I just completed a rather large commission from TIme Out Chicago, illustrating five reasons why people don't go to the gym. Quite a fun and unique assignment. I really got to get creative with these!

Good Ol' Robin Hood!

I just finished a GREAT commission for Hybrid Studios. A themed illustration for a 12 month calendar that is produced every year with an animal theme... this year was birds, so I felt confident that I could produce an amazing piece. I took a shot at a Robin Hood illo, and tried to make it pretty kid friendly to try to make more pieces that approach me to the children's market.

Here is a new piece I recently finished for the cover of the Philadelphia City Paper. Hope all you Pennsylvainians can recognize Ed Rendell on the right. Also, I'm currently working on some pieces for a show at The Red Door Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland. They're all 12"x12", acrylic and ink on masonite. Below is a zombie piece I did...currently working on a werewolf, along with a few others. (I guess a theme creeped in there somehow).

Marker, Pen & Ink 2007

In the past two weeks...

Here's a recent cover I did for Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and a rare portrait commission of Scott Walker I did for Resonance Magazine. It was really fun approaching the portrait commission, nice to add some challenges to my work...plus it actually looks like him. Currently working on the cover of The Alibi, which is a weekly newspaper out of Albuquerque.

I also just joined Sketch Motel which is a group of brilliant illustrators that has received lots of press since it's birth...I'm definitely very honored to be a part of it, and they are about to start a new postcard campaign. It's nice to get some extra promotion!

Illustration Friday • Remember

I haven't done illustration friday in so long, but I came upon the new topic, and I felt I had a piece that was quite suitable. I did this piece based on the imagination, and to always remember what makes you creative and happy in life. What inspires you? I did this piece during a period of stressful commissions, and I had to remember why I got into this business...to be creative, happy, and remember that I draw for a living.

Seattle Business Monthly No. 3

This is my third piece for Seattle Business Monthly in 2007. It's based on Seattle's lack of assistance to tourists. Hence the Pike Place Market, and the fish in the face. I've got a busy week coming up with sketches for a Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists cover, and a piece for The Utne Reader. Love to be busy.
